The Washington Township and Mount Olive Township Departments of Public Works recently completed a shared services project in the repaving of Mine Hill/Drakestown Road. The road located on the north side of Route 46 and is the dividing line between the two municipalities. The North side of the road, Mine Hill Road, is in Mount Olive and the South side of the road, Drakestown Road, is in Washington Township.

Mount Olive Township supplied the bulk of the road paving materials, and Washington Township supplied the bulk of the machinery and manpower. Prior to the paving, the old roadway was ground and compacted and used a part of the base for the improved road. The transition between roadway and the driveways were graded as necessary, and the paving was carried into the driveway aprons.

Both Departments of Public Works frequently share services to reduce the cost to the public.
