Memorial Day


The Washington Township, Long Valley Annual Memorial Day Ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 26 at 2 PM at the Washington Township Senior Center located in Rock Spring Park off East Springtown Road.

This tribute is coordinated by the Washington Township Parks & Recreation Department in cooperation with the Washington Township Veterans Association. All veterans and their families are invited to attend this annual observance honoring those who have served and sacrificed and for those who have currently serving.

A flyover is scheduled , weather permitting, followed by a musical tribute performed by the famed Colonial Musketeers. Mayor Kevin Walsh will lead the program in honoring our guests and their families. Colonel Anthony Formica, Army National Guard, will introduce CW 2 Mickey McGuire, Army National Guard, recently returned from Iraq, as the keynote speaker.

Ray Millhime, the Commander for the Washington Township Veterans Association, will lead local scouts in the wreath laying and the formal folding of our flag presented by members of the American Veterans’ of Washington Township.

A free light lunch, donated by the Chester Meat Market, will be available immediately following the ceremony. We suggest you bring a lawn chair for the post ceremony lunch.
