Giving Voice to Poetry

Students from West Morris Central High School have offered to volunteer their time to join Washington Township Seniors in a first time Poetry Gathering, where they will help lead discussions and activities centered around listening, reading, and reflecting on poetry.

Poetry is central to human consciousness. Through reading poems and allowing words and images to take hold of our minds and hearts, we can stimulate an awareness of and trust in our imaginative essence and look to reach a state of self-transcendence.

This unique opportunity will be held on Thursday, June 7 at the Washington Township, Morris County, Senior Center located in Rock Spring Park, Washington Township. The students will join in a Yoga class that the seniors hold each Thursday at the senior center from 10:45 AM - 11:30 AM, a pizza lunch will be offered and the poetry session will begin at 12:30 pm.
