"Weed Warriors" Workshop in Long Valley
The Washington Township Environmental Commission is sponsoring a "Weed Warrior" workshop
in Long Valley on May 31st, 2008. Participants will receive tips
and instruction on how to recognize invasive plant species in the landscape
and receive information and techniques on how to control and remove them
from the landscape.
The Saturday event is sponsored by Washington Township Environmental Commission
in conjunction with the South Branch Watershed Association. The "Weed Warrior" workshop
The workshop will begin at 9 AM with an educational/training session including a lecture at the Department
of Public Works Building on Rock Road, Long Valley. Following the presentation,
the workshop will continue at Harrington Park, where invasives will
be removed from the site. It is anticipated that the workshop will
end approximately at 12 Noon.
The instructor, Michael Van Clef, a consultant to Conservation
Resources and an expert in rare and invasive species management and natural
resource management and policy will be the primary lecturer.
Participants should dress appropriately for field work and bring gloves, a pruning saw or lopping shears. The workshop will be limited to 40 people. Registration for the event can be made on line, below.
