Throughout this year Girl Scout Troop 1661 has been building four picnic tables for their silver award.
Each girl had to put in forty hours towards the tables,
so everyone contributed equally.
Previously, the troop has done
many outdoor jobs such as planting flowers at Rock Spring Park
and Palmer Park. The tables were put together, stained, and placed
in Harrington Park and near the Columbia Trail behind Somerset
Hills Bank.
Throughout the years that the troop has been together,
many of the girls’ grandfathers have passed away. For that reason, the girls decided it was fitting to dedicate the tables to the grandfathers.
On behalf of the troop we would like to thank Washington
Antiques for putting up with our loud banging on early weekend
mornings.
Please come take a walk around Harrington Park and
Downtown Long Valley to take a look at the picnic tables donated
for your use. |
